Sliding Doors
Did you know that I’ve lived in the same house for the past 20 years? I love my home because it has the feeling of a large place without feeling cavernous. With a backyard, a basement and dedicated parking spaces, I really don’t think I’ll be moving anytime soon. So as I walk around my neighborhood, I play Sliding Doors. Do you remember that 1998 movie with Gwyneth Paltrow? She plays a character who experiences life in a parallel universe where a split second delay of catching a train leads to different life experiences.
When the Mister and I were on our search for a home to buy, we went to a lot of different homes in our neighborhood. As a result, homes that we viewed have changed with their purchases. Sometimes, I think – I could have lived here and be this many blocks from such and such. Then I think how long it would take for me to catch the metro at Union Station and it really reinforces why I’m happy with our decision in our current home.
This lovely home isn’t a house that we looked at when we were thinking of buying. In fact, it’s next door 🙂 So I guess that I’ll always have house envy if I lived next door!
