Where to Eat?
I’ve had a lull in my kitchen escapades so I decided to come back with a vengeance. I’ll provide commentary on that soon enough. My 1st order of business is to let you in on some of my recent food outings.
First up is Boqueria Tapas Bar & Restaurant. The origins of the restaurant is from La Boqueria, an institution located in Barcelona. This public market serves the freshest of meats, fish & produce and provided the inspiration for the tapas bar. Originally a NY establishment, the M St. location is the only DC outpost. I was there in May (!!) and I met with an out of town friend along with a few others in the late evening on a Sunday. We didn’t necessarily want to eat but we did want to try a few desserts.
We decided to try one of their specialities, churros con chocolate as well as a two other desserts, the torrija y helado & the flan. Since I’m a sucker for savory dishes, I knew that the tapas I wanted to try was the bunuelos de bacalao, a salt cod fritter. Did I mention that there was a mixed cocktail involved?

Everything was delicious and I can’t wait to go to back for brunch!

Most of you know that I have a special relationship with pork. So I was really excited to be invited to the soft opening of The Pig. A friend of mine is the Executive Chef and a group of us helped to taste test the items on the menu.
We were a party of 4 and the restaurant asked us to limit our order to 4 items per person. That’s a lot of food! Luckily we all eat above our body weight 🙂
