All the Presidents
Some people have the day off today (me included) and while I’m fighting a sore throat, I enjoyed taking a look of some of our prominent Presidents when I took a quick jaunt over to the National Portrait Gallery earlier last week.
The National Portrait Gallery has been busy as of late due to the arrival of the portraits of former President Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama. The queues have been extraordinary and I was lucky to arrive with the shortest lines.
The Kogod Courtyard is a phenomenal piece of architecture and is reason enough to visit. The portraits that are on display are of men and women who have contributed to furthering society in the United States. It’s truly inspiring to see how artists portrayed these individuals with mixed media and highlighting their personalities through their artistry.
I was more focused on the Presidents and there’s a hall dedicated to them. That’s where you can find President Obama’s portrait. You’ll have to cross the courtyard to find Mrs. Obama because she’s located in the adjoining building.
This is by far one of my favorite portraits.
Hope you get to enjoy another free cultural experience in DC!
