A Happy Surprise

Last week was pretty tremendous with a lot of February celebrations: GALentine’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Aurnia’s Birthday, Lunar New Year & me accepting a new job. A result of that professional update brought a slew of warm wishes, congratulatory texts & a lot of positive comments on Facebook. I also received a happy surprise!

I pride myself in keeping a tight knit group of former staffers who keep in touch with one another as well as with me on the updates of their lives. We celebrate the milestones that matter – weddings, promotions, babies, starting their own consulting firms, getting new clients and whatever else that is their joy. I also unabashedly toot their horn to remind others that they are incredibly talented people. I’m like the mom who wants to always talk about their children.

So as I was finishing up a conference call sequestered in another room, the Mister answers the doorbell and leaves a package for me for when I open the door. Inside contained a lovely floral arrangement from one of my former staffers.

She is the gold standard, wait wait, the platinum/vibranium to which I talk about her abilities. ON. FIRE.

I was so touched by her kindness and it only solidified that people who work on my team only make me a better person.
